Outro dia me deparei com uma situação em que precisava gravar cds em modo texto. Depois de uma rápida "googlada" descobri algumas dicas que podem ajudá-los se um dia tiverem que gravar cds usando o cdrecord.
Vamos as dicas:
cdrecord -v dev=/dev/hdc speed=52 driveropts=burnfree -data imagemdoseucd.iso
while : ; do cdrecord -v dev=/dev/hdc speed=52 driveropts=burnfree -data imagemdoseucd.iso ; eject ; sleep 10 ; eject -t ; done
Com este comando você terá 10 segundos para trocar o cd.mkisofs -J -L -R -o backup.iso backup
cdrecord dev=/dev/hdc -v -multi -data speed=52 driveropts=burnfree -eject backup.iso
cdrecord dev=/dev/hdc -msinfo 0,12639
mkisofs dev=/dev/hdc -J -L -R -o backup.iso -C 0,12639 backup
cdrecord dev=/dev/hdc -v -multi -data speed=52 driveropts=burnfree -eject backup.iso

Precisa sincronizar um servidor com velocidade, e precisão?
Use o rsync! Ele se utiliza de um algoritmo que sincroniza apenas as diferenças dos arquivos. Com isso o ganho de velocidade é tremendo.
E o uso deste comando é facílimo. A sintaxe é assim:rsync -av --rsh="ssh -l user" user@endereço_ip:/backup /home/local/
Onde:
rsync -av --rsh="ssh -l jose" /home/jose jose@192.168.0.1:/backup

Este é para novatos em Linux que tem dificuldade em usar a internet de forma segura e rápida, via Firefox. Estes infelizes podem tentar este script que instala o IE6 + o Flash 9 no Linux. Eu sinceramente não vejo vantagens, mais para quem quer... ai vai: IEs4Linux.
